WOODLAND MANAGEMENT AND CONSULTANCY
WOODLAND MANAGEMENT
What is woodland management? It involves the planning and organisation of work from the establishment to the harvesting of a tree crop by:
Discussing the owner's objectives; Preparing a plan of action and Woodland Grant Scheme; Agreeing the Woodland Grant Scheme with the Forestry Commission; Organising the necessary work; Claiming the available grants; Keeping records and accounts.
A well managed woodland offers a number of options as it starts to mature. It can be selectively felled to create an age structure; it can be clearfelled and replanted; it can be thinned carefully and be allowed to grow on well past maturity for long term retention or it can be managed for continuous forestry cover by the encouragement of natural regeneration or underplanting. An unmanaged woodland will steadily decline until there is only one option left - that of clearfelling.
CONSULTANCY
Owners, large or small, sometimes require an objective independent opinion on their woodland portfolio, or on one specific aspect. We are experienced in providing this service.

Timber can be sold either: standing; at roadside; delivered to the mill; by tender or by negotiation We can advise what will be the best method for the crop and arrange the measurement, felling, extraction and sales.
WOODLAND SALES, PURCHASES AND VALUATIONS
There is an active and increasing market in freehold or leasehold woodlands. We are in that market and know the values.
